Anyone can report it upstream because it's not limited to my system. Just set up a virtual machine with Samba server and try to access password-protected share. I reported bug here because I use Ubuntu. If I used my own distribution, I would, of course, report bugs upstream. Also I am sure that bug is already fixed upstream long time ago.
