It looks like something about Hebrew causes fontconfig to prefer the
Dejavu Extras font as a fallback before the Emojione font, and since
Dejavu Extras contains black and white smileys these get displayed
instead. I don't know if the fact that it's an RTL language causes
fontconfig to calculate its font preference order differently? I'll have
a dig around in fontconfig and try to get a better picture of what's
going on
