Hi,
I have had the same issue after installing Ubuntu 16.04. I have tried the fix
from comment #31 and it didn't work for me. However, as soon as I plug my
headphone into the front panel headphone plug, the annoying issue disappeared,
and the popping up comes back if headphone is unplugged.
Now I unplugged my rear speaker's plug, and no popping up at all.
Additionally, when I adjust the "Sound Setting", I was unable to hear the Test
Sound if I try to play sound from Digital Output (S/PDIF). Not sure if this is
relevant.
Ubuntu gurus, perhaps the issue links to the audio plug scan or config?
Thanks in advance.
