The webbrowser-app is the main affected with this problem. Console (DISPLAY=:0) freezes and using a ssh to my desktop from a different system I can logging and notice that: 1) console user is gone! 2) sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser show: Selection Path Priority Status ------------------------------------------------------------ * 0 /usr/bin/epiphany-browser 85 auto mode 1 /usr/bin/epiphany-browser 85 manual mode 2 /usr/bin/firefox 40 manual mode dpkg -l webbrowser-app lightdm Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend |/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Architecture Description +++-==============-============-============-================================== ii webbrowser-app 0.23+14.04.2 i386 Ubuntu web browser ii lightdm 1.10.6-0ubun i386 Display Manager 3) lightdm does not restart 4) any app that depends on webbrowser-app will crash the system 5) I can only recover the system console by ssh from other device and using a sudo reboot This problem might suggest very important vulnerability of ubuntu Could be related to new updates.
