Public bug reported:

On my disk each artist has its own directory. Each album is a
subdirectory in the artists directory. When I select the artist in
Amarok I normally get the list of all songs grouped per album. Amarok
plays each song of the playlist (of all albums) without a problem.

Opening my latest artist selection I saw double entries in the list.
However, not all songs are doubled.

FWIW, each directory contains a m3u file containing the song listing
made by WinAmp. But every album has a m3u file. I selected another
artist, where all songs are single, went back to the previous artist,
and saw the double songs again. On disk no double entries are in the
directory.
