Well, you can't set what g-p-m will do when the timeout is reached, it will 
always suspend, but you can choose what to do when 1) the lid is closed 2) 
power or standby buttons are pressed.
So there's no issue on this side on your computer. I think I can't help more, 
please just wait for somebody to investigate this further.

You may provide the output of 'sudo dmidecode', and your
/var/log/kern.log.0 file, this might explain what happens before the
computer hibernates.
