It seems that the pmount package was not properly installed. Was there
an upgrade which was interrupted by any package failure, so that pmount
could not be configured properly? Please try
sudo apt-get -f install
copy&paste the result here, and then please check that
stat -c %a /usr/bin/pmount
prints '4754'. Thank you!
