another easy workaround for this is to use a script ive written that
turns the monitor/display off, but turns it on for a second when the
mouse is moved. the easiest way to use it is to either launch it from a
terminal or to assign it to a hotkey. switch it on, the screen turns
off, move the mouse, the screen turns back on for a few seconds where
you will be able to see your mouse cursor, then either crtl+c with the
terminal window in focus to kill the script and the window, or by
clicking the shortcut youve created to launch it. not a fix, but another
work around.
