I think I have the same issue. If so, I know some sort of workaround - to switch to an another console with Ctrl+Alt+F6 and go back with Ctrl+Alt+F7. It frees a keyboard and lets to enter a password. But after that I have a little mess with windows - they move to other desktops and shifted a little.
