Hi, Sorry for losing track of this. My current situation is that on the latest xenial kernel (4.4.0-31-generic) I can happily dock and undock without the laptop freezing.
... instead, after undocking the laptop freezes when trying to suspend. I'll do some investigation, and if I can't figure anything out will file another bug.
