A possible workaround in Kubuntu is to edit the file associations
(System Settings -> Applications -> File Associations -> video) and for
every file type configure the "Enqueue in SMPlayer" option to be on the
top.

Alternatively, you could manually configure the file to be opened with
smplayer with the "-add-to-playlist" option:

1) Right-Click on a video media file (avi, m4v, flv, etc.) in a file browser.
2) Select "Open With" -> "Other..."
3) Type "smplayer -add-to-playlist %U" in the edit box, select the "Remember
application association for this type of file" checkbox, and click OK.
