Public bug reported:

After last update on my 14.04 trusty machine, it takes a long time to
regenerate the fonts cache. Now after that, most graphical applications
take about 30 seconds to start with 100% CPU load. It is impossible to
work with my system in this state.

I already tried purging and reinstallong all fontconfig-related packages
and completely deleted and rebuildt my font cache, but the problem
persists. Before the update everything was fine.
