Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: pidgin
I did the following:
1. Installed gutsy 20071009 d-i i386 (in Dutch with UK keyboard, but in this
report I will translate the menu items etc. into English)
2. Did some other unrelated tests
3. Applications / Internet / Pidgin
4. Select "Add" as suggested by the dialogue
5. Add irc.ubuntu.com with my chosen nick and the default options
6. In the irc window, type /join #ubuntu-testing
7. Left-click the little cross (close window) icon in the top right of each
pidgin window
8. Applications / Internet / Pidgin and note that the cursor turns into the
circular "thinking about this" icon for about 10s and then goes back to normal,
but nothing appears.
Pidgin is in fact still running - it has left an unobtrusive
notification icon in the top right notification area, along with the
half dozen or so other things that appear by default.
When started from the menu, pigdin should cause the existing running
instance to create if necessary, and raise and deiconify, its window(s).
** Affects: pidgin (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
