Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.
It looks like your problem may consist of two separate problems:
1. The colored blocks during installation
2. The problems after reboot.
The first problem was a known problem which was solved shortly after the beta
cd's were released. Could you please try the installation with a more recent
alternate cd? I think you may want to use the release candidate cd, which is
expected this Thursday, but you can also use one of the daily releases.
For the second problem, it is not completely certain you completed the
installation successfully, so I think it is best to re-test that also with a
more recent CD.
