Public bug reported:

I don't think this matches the ones that search turned up.

I was upgrading a Linode VM from 14.04 to 16.04 (do-release-upgrade),
and after seeming to upgrade everything(?), it spat this out at the end:

==================================================================================
Errors were encountered while processing:
 pptpd
Error in function:

A fatal error occurred

Please report this as a bug and include the files
/var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log and /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log in
your report. The upgrade has aborted.
Your original sources.list was saved in
/etc/apt/sources.list.distUpgrade.

SystemError: E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Could not install the upgrades

The upgrade has aborted. Your system could be in an unusable state. A
recovery will run now (dpkg --configure -a).

Please report this bug in a browser at
http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+filebug
and attach the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ to the bug report.

Upgrade complete

The upgrade has completed but there were errors during the upgrade
process.
==================================================================================

Scrolling back up in teh screen session, I see that same set of lines:

==================================================================================
Setting up pptpd (1.4.0-7ubuntu0.1) ...
Failed to restart systemd-modules-load.service: No such method 'RestartUnit'
See system logs and 'systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service' for details.
dpkg: error processing package pptpd (--configure):

==================================================================================

That seems to be the only thing that spat out any sort of error.

I will attempt to see what happens after reboot. (Worst case, I will
restore from the snapshot I took just before the upgrade attempt)
