Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.
The option you have was as a comment in the default my.cnf in the past.
However, this option is depreciated in 5.5 and removed in 5.6, It was removed
from the default conf later on.
But since Ubuntu preserves your changes to a config you might still have
that in which is now causing that break.
Fix your config related to this and reinstalling should fix your issue on your
system.
