Public bug reported:
I've installed Ubuntu Xenial 16.04.1 under virtualbox, then added the
stable-phone-overlay PPA, installed unity8-desktop-session and ran a
dist-upgrade.
After rebooting, if I choose to login with the unity8 session and enter
my password, after a few seconds (involving display mode changes) the
screen gets back to the login screen.
I'm attaching the unity-system-compositor.log file.
I tried both with and without installing the VirtualBox guest additions,
and the result is the same.
