Hi Ghis, yes, we confirmed that it works correctly with FreeImage 3.17.0 built from source. So the bug is specific to Ubuntu 16.04 packaging.
(Note, the source did not build out of the box, there was some trivial bug with raw string delimiters that we had to manually patch.) Hope this helps.
