Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.
Since it seems likely to me that this is not a bug in Ubuntu, I'm
marking this bug as Invalid.
Specifically, doveadm is a shell command. If you have files in your
current directory, the shell is supposed to expand *, which is probably
not what you want. Perhaps it worked for you before because you were
running it in an empty directory?
As you pointed out, you need to quote the glob expansion if you want to
pass a literal '*' to doveadm. I don't see how this is a bug.
Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then we'd be grateful if
you could explain why and then change the bug status back to New.
