Public bug reported:

Could someone please explain to me the dumb decision to activate mdadm
by default in a default install of 16.04LTS ?

What's wrong with the obvious process that *IF* I want RAID, I can
either activate the service (and configure it accordingly) or install
the package.

Why on earth run it by default and waste un-necessary resources on the
system and fill up my dmesg and logs with un-necessary messages about
MDADM finding nothing ?

Sorry for the rant, but 16.04LTS has been a particularly frustrating and
buggy release. Not one of Ubuntu's finest hours !
