I can confirm this on a hp dv2000 laptop with an nvidia geforce 7200
(128MB) card with gutsy and nvidia-glx-new (100.14.19).

compiz.real hogs all my memory (1GB) in a couple of hours when having
several windows open and, for instance, surfing the web. Closing the
windows doesn't free the memory, it is only freed by stopping or
restarting compiz.

I don't know if this is caused by the new "GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap
out-of-memory"- handling in the newest nvidia driver, which fixed the
black window bug. In my understanding, the black window bug was caused
by the graphics card running out of memory. Even if the nvidia driver
was borrowing memory from the system, the amount seems a bit
unreasonable, 800MB for some 8 windows.

If there is any information that might be helpful I'll gladly post it.
