If at all helpful - prelink is causing this error in my system: * All worked yesterday, * I prelinked all the system (prelink -avRm) today morning * gitk/git gui stopped working * I unprelinked all system (prelink -auv) * gitk/git gui resumed operation.
Reinstallation of TK might have helped (didn't in my case) because it reinstalled execs and libs with unprelinked versions.
