@chili555: The point is that my Broadcom wifi device works with Linux kernel 3.19.0-69-generic (modules wl + cfg80211). But the kernel modules won't compile in kernel 4.4.0-36 which was installed automatically in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. In the description of bcmwl-kernel-source my wifi chipset BCM4312 is mentioned explicitly.
