@vooze: This worked PERFECTLY. The PLT_BBTGO2 is now paired and connected successfully and I can adjust controls in the Sound settings panel. I had to run
sudo pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover after I'd added the PPA, updated pulseaudio and rebooted. A huge thank you for all your help. Do you need specifics on the hardware I'm using?
