@Khurshid Alam Well, I do confirm that adding the 4.4.0-22 kernel, there was a drop in the memory usage.
Initially, the system started with 1.2 gb. I disabled evolution processes as suggested above. cd /usr/share/dbus-1/services sudo ln -snf /dev/null org.gnome.evolution.dataserver.AddressBook.service sudo ln -snf /dev/null org.gnome.evolution.dataserver.Calendar.service sudo ln -snf /dev/null org.gnome.evolution.dataserver.Sources.service sudo ln -snf /dev/null org.gnome.evolution.dataserver.UserPrompter.service and gnome-software. There was a drop to 993 mb. After the suggestion above with kernel 4.4.0-22, my system starts at 795.2 mb. Moreover, the teamviewer process is running at system startup, so these numbers can be further reduced by 70-100 mb. If somebody knows how to re-enable evolution processes please let know. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1572801 Title: Ubuntu 16.04 Unity desktop uses much more ram than Ubuntu 15.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1572801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
