Reading on the web, I learned that ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list exists. And I found the following in mine:
# fgrep -i firefox ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list x-scheme-handler/ftp=firefox.desktop x-scheme-handler/chrome=firefox.desktop application/x-extension-htm=firefox.desktop application/x-extension-html=firefox.desktop application/x-extension-shtml=firefox.desktop application/xhtml+xml=firefox.desktop application/x-extension-xhtml=firefox.desktop application/x-extension-xht=firefox.desktop x-scheme-handler/http=firefox.desktop; x-scheme-handler/https=firefox.desktop; text/html=firefox.desktop; This, despite I have used the GUI "System settings / Details / Default Applications". That said, I changed all reference of "firefox" for "google-chrome" and then logged out/ logged in, to no vail. Firefox remains the default browser when I click on a link displayed on a PDF document, rendered by evince. So this is problably not the problem. That said, shouldn't 'System settings' update the file anyway, in case it is being used by some other application? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1166017 Title: I can't change the default web browser To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1166017/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
