Sorry, but I tried your fix last night and the issue is still there.
FWIW samba wasn't installed but samba-common was so using synaptic I
removed it. Syslog output from this morning

Oct 19 08:57:02 localhost colord[1215]: (colord:1215): Cd-WARNING **: failed to 
get session [pid 10168]: No such device or address
