Further experimentation seems to indicate that there is a problem with copying to the clipboard.
KeePass2 works fine until I double-click a username or password, at which point it hangs. If I instead open the entry, highlight the username or password, and copy, then I can paste it into certain applications (such as gedit, pluma or leafpad), but not others (such as gnome-terminal). To further confuse things, sometimes KeePass2 suddenly starts to work properly after killing and restarting it multiple times.
