Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.
I was able to reproduce this on Trusty by adding "auth_verbose_passwords
= yes" to the end of the config file and restarting dovecot. It did not
reproduce in Xenial or Yakkety.
I think this is a valid bug since even a syntax error in a configuration
file should not cause dovecot to crash. However, it does appear fixed in
the latest release, so I'm marking this as Fix Released.
I assume that the workaround (fix the config file) is trivial enough
that this doesn't need to be fixed in 14.04. If anyone disagrees, please
do comment here.
I checked the report carefully for any private information and didn't
find any, so I think this is safe to be marked public so that others can
find information on this issue.
