Hi,

If you insert an UPPERCASE records (like UPPERCASE.launchpad.net) in sqlbackend 
pdns return NXDOMAIN when you dig the record.
This bug is fixed in master, I think near

I've switch to official pdns repo with latest stable release 
(4.0.1-1pdns.xenial), bug is fixed
