> Disabling nvidia with bbswitch makes no difference for me. Fans keep on spinning. I have an i7.
Are you sure it going off? What "cat /proc/acpi/bbswitch" and "optirun --status" do say? Anyway I can't say sure for i7 model. > I am not convinced the fan issue even has anything to do with the graphics. It has to do with termperature. And running nvidia always on (default behaviour) leads to higher temps and so spinning fans. > Stay far away from it if you are a Linux user > From mine point of view, buying this model was a big mistake for Linux usage People, let's don't extrapolate your negative expirence with 7559 i7 model on 7559 at whole or 7566 (which is not even tested). As for me 7559 i5 is a very good model for Linux. Even bad Skylake support under Linux shouldn't short CPU life, since this model uses HQ series processors, and not U series. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1602888 Title: Dell Inspiron 7559 fans do not shut off once started, even when cool To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1602888/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
