Are you sure it going off? What "cat /proc/acpi/bbswitch" and "optirun
--status" do say? Anyway I can't say sure for i7 model.

It has to do with termperature. And running nvidia always on (default
behaviour) leads to higher temps and so spinning fans.

People, let's don't extrapolate your negative expirence with 7559 i7
model on 7559 at whole or 7566 (which is not even tested). As for me
7559 i5 is a very good model for Linux. Even bad Skylake support under
Linux shouldn't short CPU life, since this model uses HQ series
processors, and not U series.
