5 seconds is a reasonable timeout for real-world scenarios, but indeed it's not 
a reasonable timeout for debugging.
Luckily, there are ways to tweak it:

1) set the OAU_DAEMON_TIMEOUT=9999 environment variable when starting
online-accounts-service (which is the process which hosts the online-
accounts-api)

2) echo "DaemonTimeout=9999" > ~/.config/online-accounts-service.conf

In both cases, "9999" is the new timeout, in seconds.
