James, Can you please clarify running OK. For me everything runs okay if I use the main display on the laptop or connect a monitor to the DisplayPort port. However, I get the error messages when I connect the external docking station (Thinkpad Onelink+). As per my post, the error message was still being seen with 4.8.10 (the latest from the 4.8.x branch) from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/.
