I have further information. For me, I find that this problem occurs only with the plugin QuickUnlock installed.
When QuickUnlock is installed, this problem recurs when using KeePass2 prior to the automatic lock — as set in Tools > Options > Security > Lock workspace after KeePass inactivity (seconds). After the lock has activated for the first time, KeePass2 then works properly.
