Upon further research, it looks like all the i386 packages for openoffice.org are at the same version as the openoffice.org-common package for PPC. This makes sense, since it's an architecture- independent package. But since all the rest of the PPC packages are still on another version, the whole installation of openoffice (on that platform) is broken.
