Never mind... your workaround is good WITH restricted drivers and compiz installed. I just got it working. Yippee!
Still doesn't work without restricted though... This is the first time I've heard of restricted drivers being *required* for suspend :-D I guess this bug is not officially low priority. ** Summary changed: - gutsy regression: suspend fails to resume (no restricted drivers installed) + [gutsy] regression: suspend fails to resume (no restricted drivers installed) ** Description changed: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22 On a Dell Precision M70 laptop (NVIDIA QuadroFX Go 1400), suspend/resume has always worked fine with restricted installed in both edgy and - feisty. I have just installed gutsy beta. Laptop suspends but does not - resume. I have tried all the following combinations: + feisty. With fully updated gutsy, laptop suspends but does not resume. I + have tried all the following combinations: - No restricted drivers - Restricted driver + compiz - Restricted driver + metacity In the first case, nothing comes on the screen after attempting to suspend---just a hard lockup. In the latter two cases, I see some text messages printed to screen and a few screen resolution changes before hard lockup. + + EDIT: (Oct 13 2007) + + WORKAROUND: with restricted drivers and -14 kernel installed, set + POST_VIDEO=false in /etc/default/acpi-support. Suspend will work. Thanks + to gerard76. + + Without restricted drivers, suspend still fails. -- [gutsy] regression: suspend fails to resume (no restricted drivers installed) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/146335 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
