With an ATI Radeon Mobility M7 (7500), the gutsy beta desktop live cd still has this problem: (EE) RADEON(0): [agp] AGP failed to initialize. Disabling the DRI. (EE) AIGLX: Screen 0 is not DRI capable and (WW) RADEON(0): [agp] AGP not available (WW) RADEON(0): Direct rendering disabled
For me, unloading and reloading radeon (`sudo rmmod radeon && sudo modprobe radeon`) as sugested in Xorg.0.log: >(WW) RADEON(0): [agp] AGP not available >(EE) RADEON(0): [agp] AGP failed to initialize. Disabling the DRI. >(II) RADEON(0): [agp] You may want to make sure the agpgart kernel module >is loaded before the radeon kernel module. solves _this_ problem, and gets me direct rendering. (How can I check / change the load order?)
