I have a similar problem on my Zepto Znote 6024w (Santa Rosa). I've got no
sound at all. The above workaround solves the problem (I don't need the patch
anymore, seems like it has been merged into alsa-sources). Additionally, I have
to remove the old snd-hda-intel module that comes with the linux-ubuntu-modules
package and load the module with model=toshiba. Then, sound works like a charm.
Only the speakers don't mute, when headphones are plugged. But I can mute the
speakers manually. And there is no button to turn on the optical output, which
works when loading the module without any options. But I haven't found any
model= option that works better than toshiba (I tried acer, toshiba, macpro and
w2jc, are there any others? Where can I find them?).
I attached the relevant output of lspci -vvnn.
