I was asked to fix a machine affected by this after upgrading from trusty to xenial (LTS releases).
On this machine systemctl start sddm started sddm successfully, but enable did nothing. Reinstalling the sddm package added the previously missing /etc/systems/system/display-manager.service symlink, which fixed the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1431332 Title: sddm not starting after upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sddm/+bug/1431332/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
