This is a very confusing procedure, from here.
I have had trouble with Ubuntu 16.04 ever since a new install and upgrade
before Christmas. (I have been using Ubuntu for some years and tried to keep
upgraded).
I explained all this when going through the bug reporting procedure I was
offered last night when the new installation failed about midway or later, so I
don't know if you can see that information or not ????
Briefly, because 16.04 was giving trouble (it sent you many crash reports) and
seemed to be indicating that the upgrade had left some old programs on the HDD
(but didn't identify them !! ), I decided to install 16.04 on a 32GB flash
drive.
This would allow me to fully re-format the laptop HDD - ready for a completely
new installation of 16.04.
As explained, this failed sometime after mid point installation, and I was
directed to the bug notification process which I went through.
SO, from the reports you received, and my explanation, can you please tell me
what went wrong and how do I finish installing 16.04 onto the USB stick.
Many Thanks to anyone who can help. (Not a programmer, but adept at the
terminal if I know what to do)
