Public bug reported:

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
Release: 16.04
Codename: xenial
Kernel: 4.4.0-57-generic(x86_64)

network-manager-gnome v. 1.2.0
network-manager v. 1.2.2

I have just installed Ubuntu 16.04 and I have noticed that virtual interfaces
created by vmware player such as vmnet1 and vmnet8 are shown in the nm-applet
as not managed deviced and recognized as Ethernet connection. Is that behaviour
expected? It was not the case for Ubuntu 14.04.

nmcli dev
DEVICE TIPO STATO CONNESSIONE
wlo1 wifi collegato N2O2
eno1 ethernet non disponibile --
vmnet1 ethernet non gestito --
vmnet8 ethernet non gestito --
lo loopback non gestito --

So far I did not find a way to hide them. Moreover the full name of the
pci card is also shown for the real ethernet interface eno1:

Rete Ethernet(RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller)
disconnessi

making the pop-up window very large

** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
