python-apt version 0.7.8 is a very old and obsolete version (was for Ubuntu
9.04).
For Ubuntu 14.04 the designated version is 0.9.3.5ubuntu2
The message
"from DistUtilsExtra.command import *
ImportError: No module named 'DistUtilsExtra'"
might indicate that the package python-distutils-extra is missing.
