Thank you! Having built a test kernel there does seem to miss something to make everything work right on my system. I suspect EDID decode issues. Will try to hunt down what the missing piece is and see if we can include that as well. Failing that I do believe this would be useful in its own right, but we should probably have someone with affected hardware to confirm.
