Binary package hint: compiz
If maximized, new tabs open really slowly in terminal (in GNOME) with
Compiz used. The first tab even causes terminal to temporarily freeze.

Ubuntu Gutsy with recent patches applied, unmodified Compiz with Visual Effects
set to Extra
P4 2.8 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM, GeForce 6800 128 MB
