I have the same situation here with a Ubuntu 16.04 running on a Kaby- Lake CPU. Fullscreen in Google-Chrome or in the editor "Atom" crashes Unity. Cant minimize the fullscreen-window again, cant click anything. Only possible way is rebooting.
