Public bug reported:

I am using Gutsy on two laptops, a Dell Latitude D400, with a DVD-CDRW
drive detected as "HL-DT-ST_RW.DVD_GCC-4241N-0:0", and a Gateway MX6427
using a Phillips DVD+-RW SDVD8441.

When trying to burn a CD ISO to the former or a DVD iso to the latter
using respective RW media, gutsy complains that the disk is not writable
and ejects the disk. The disks do have data already on them and under
feisty I would normally get a 'erase disk?' dialog. I have tried using
the default nautilus burning tool as well as Brasero, both resulting in
the same.

Trying to manually erase the disk using Brasero on the Gateway, it tells
me that the disk is a DVD-R and that it cannot be blanked.

I was successfully able to wipe and burn the disk using Nero. I did not
try K3B.
