ALSA is completely lost. Together with onboard Via8233 AC97 I have this pci card Soundblaster Live emu10k1 with chipset Sigmatel that Gnome doesn't recognizes. To complicate even more I have an Pixelview Pro chipset Conexant with BT878 - bttv driver with tuner Philips table number 37 where the new released kernel 2.6.22.14-43 doesn't install due to error -22 ????. Microphone is another device that ALSA treats as a separate device from sound system and if I try to plug my usb webcam Logitech Quickcam PRO 5000 with microphone integrated all together simple Gutsy can't deal with all these sound devices. Gnome-alsamixer is just one of many tries I planned to make microphone works on Gutsy.
