@James: could you please check in /var/crash/ if there is a file that starts with "_usr_bin_debconf " and then please attach it to this bugreport. Please also run: $ /usr/share/apport/apport-gtk -c /var/crash/_usr_bin_debconf* and add the link to the apport bugreport.
