Public bug reported:

When using the Software Updater to update software, whenever there is
software to update, there is an option to expand the details of the
update. In the past, the window has expanded to show details of the
packages being updated and their progress. Since updating to 16.10, the
details window does not expand but remains as a strip in which the
details are hardly legible.
