However, I could not reproduce your problem.
Is the locale, e.g. $LANG in the shell started from Konqueror different to the
locale, if you start konsole by typing "konsole" in the ALT-F2 quick launcher?
Have you set your locale in /etc/default/locale? (I have de_DE.UTF-8
there)
